Where do you live?  Liberty & Guerrero

How often do you come to the MCM?  Every week, pretty much.

What are you buying?  Peaches from Twin Girls, a special order from Bok Ssam (in a bowl) so that Zoe can eat it.  I love all the samples that the vendors give out, so that Zoe can try new things. Often, we get salmon from Coastside Farms or cakes from flourChylde. And, we LOVE getting the kettle corn from Peter’s Kettle Corn!

What’s your favorite part of the market? We like the music, and also the cooking demos at the Urban Sprouts booth.  I really like the guy who does them*; he’s always so engaging.  It’s also nice to see people from the neighborhood.

What’s the best kept secret at MCM, or something you would like people to know about? There are more food vendors than before; the market has really grown. Also, it’s a great place to have dinner, that’s why you see so many parents here.

* Editor’s note: That’s Raul Hernandez with Urban Sprouts! Yay Raul!

Meet Sylvie, a regular who stops at the market after work, before she heads back over the bridge!

Where do you live? I live in the East Bay, but I work at the Mission branch of the Library which is nearby.

How often do you come to the MCM?  Every week.

What are you buying?  Strawberries from Yerena Farms and shiitake mushrooms from Far West Fungi.

What’s your favorite part of the market? It’s wonderful that it’s here…. and a great addition to this neighborhood.  I love seeing all the kids, music, and dancing.

What’s the best kept secret at MCM, or something you would like people to know about?  People should know that it’s here and that it’s a lovely place to meet your neighbors.

Kiddo Disco at MCM for Dia De Los Muertos

Posted on by Mission Community Market in Blog, Live Music | Leave a comment
This Thursday we’re celebrating Dia De Los Muertos at MCM with an action-packed schedule of family-friendly fun! At 4:30 pm the kids from Edison Academy will perform the Thriller Dance. Starting at 5:00 pm, DJ Matt Haze will play music in anticipation of this Saturday’s Kiddo Disco show at Bollyhood (details below). Also at 5:00 pm, we’ll learn how to make Pumpkins Florentine and a Fall Flower Salad thanks to a cooking demo fro Violeta and Raul of Urban Sprouts. At 5:30pm  Moving Beyond Productions, and the Marsh Youth Theater Dance program will present a Dia de los Muertos dance.
What is Kiddo Disco, you ask? Well, The Great Pumpkin, Jack Skellington, and Dora the Zombie Explorer will all be there, getting their ghoulish groove on! Kiddo Disco is a daytime family dance party, back from the undead to celebrate Halloween with you and your creepy little creatures! There will be face painting, stroller parking, a diaper changing area and quiet reading area, as well as healthy and delicious snacks and a bar for the ghastly grownups. Megan (g)hosts and DJ Matt spins a weird and wacky mix of celebratory tunes. The only missing ingredient in the magic potion is you!
