We are so excited to welcome Boffo Cart to the MCM family! Ever since they started serving dinner at the market a couple of weeks ago, customers have been raving about their food. Boffo Cart offers its own version of seasonal, California-style Italian fare, using organic, local ingredients from a variety of market vendors from around the Bay. For his calzones, Chef Rhasaan Fernandez makes his own completely vegan dough (which is insanely delicious!), with flour milled every day in San Francisco, and he serves his sandwiches on Acme bread. Mercado Kitchen: Asparagus & Farro Salad
We all know that asparagus is the best, and often, I simply roast it in the oven with salt & pepper, olive oil, and a splash of lemon, and love life. But, what about when you want something a little more? I cooked up this easy Asparagus-Farro Salad with Feta, using the incredible asparagus that MCM is lucky enough to have from Zuckerman’s Farm. For this recipe you’ll need:
- 1 bunch asparagus
- 2 cups of dry farro
- 1 bunch red spring onions (from Tomatero Farm)
- 3 cloves garlic, minced (from Nyia Yi Farms)
- 2 – 3oz feta cheese
- Olive Oil (from Terra Savia)
- Red Pepper Flakes

Mercado Kitchen: Berry-Spinach Salad
O, glorious strawberry season! How long have we waited for it to arrive?! It seems like years. Well, at least one. We are so excited to be getting delicious, plump, juicy strawberries now in season from Yerena Farms at MCM. This week, Tomatero Farms joins the mix and they’ll have berries as well!
If you have any will power at all, and you actually have some uneaten strawberries in your basket by the time you get home, make this delicious strawberry-spinach salad filled with candied walnuts and optional bacon vinaigrette!

I know what you’re thinking… you’re tired of waiting for stonefruit to come into season and you’re ready to bid farewell to citrus and apples. But don’t say goodbye just yet, especially when these April showers leave you craving some comfort food! Send apples off in style with this delicious Apple Crisp with walnuts and Creme Fraiche! You’ll need:
- 8 Apples from K&J Orchards
- 1/2 lb of Walnuts from Winters Fruit Tree
- 1 cup of Oats
- Melted butter
- 1/4 cup of Brown Sugar, split in half
- 1/2 Lemon, juiced
